Medicine Shoppe International Case Study

Design and Development of 4 sites, 2 portals and other applications

Medicine Shoppe International engaged Habanero to tackle their most critical Web initiatives in many years. Medicine Shoppe, part of the World-leading Healthcare product provider Cardinal Health, desperately needed a new website presence for both Medicine Shoppe and Medicap. In addition, their franchisee portals, Connect, had become very non-user-friendly and unorganized through years of tacking content and functionality to the portals.

Medicine Shoppe selected Habanero to define and document their needs, create a well-thought plan for rolling out these and other initiatives and then to design and develop the appropriate solutions. Following completion of our Discover Phase, we provided a prioritized proposal of all the initiatives and functionality Medicine Shoppe needed. In addition, Medicine Shoppe needed a powerful, flexible content management system that would power their sites, both internal and external sites. Habanero selected Sitecore due to it’s rich level of functionality, customizability and ability to power all of their sites through one CMS admin site.
Since the beginning of 2007, Habanero has launched the new www.medicineshoppe.com and www.medicap.com sites. Habanero was responsible for design, development, identification of and purchase of the CMS software licensing, SSL certificates, hosting environment consultation, Google map-driven pharmacy locator, and integration with internal databases.

Recently, Habanero completed the design and development of new franchisee Connect portals for both Medicine Shoppe and Medicap. Both portals include a new, brand-consistent design, vastly improved navigation and user-experience. The technologies involved included Flash, Sitecore SMS, SSL encryption, single-sign-on, and integration with numerous back-office applications.
